If you have unwanted pigmentation on your face or body, you may want to consider Cosmelan depigmentation treatment. A highly innovative two-phase procedure, Cosmelan can be useful for conditions such as pigmentation and sun spots as well as post-acne marks and melasma. At Skiin, we use Cosmelan to help achieve clearer and brighter complexions for our patients. Our clinic also makes use of the world’s best technologies from brands such as Cutera to achieve the best results for our patients.

Our Cosmelan peel procedures are safe and non-invasive, treating the source of pigmentation and providing relatively rapid results. Patients of all ages and ethnicities with old or new pigment deposits have the potential to benefit from Cosmelan depigmentation treatment.

What is Cosmelan?

The Cosmelan Method by Mesoestetic is an innovative and effective option for our clients who have unwanted pigmentation from a broad range of causes including sun damage, post acne pigmentation and melasma. The Cosmelan process targets all stages of the skin’s pigmentation process – melanogenesis – in a non-invasive way to lighten and brighten the face.

How does Cosmelan work?

The Cosmelan Method entails the application of the Cosmelan 1 mask in clinic by a dermal clinician, which is left on for 6-10 hours depending on the client’s skin and their degree of pigmentation. Following this, the client will implement the Cosmelan skincare routine over a period of 6 months which includes Cosmelan 2 – a product to maintain and enhance the effects of the mask. For these reasons, the Cosmelan method requires our clients to be committed and consistent to ensure optimum efficacy. Cosmelan is appropriate for all skin types but it is recommended that our clients’ skin is prepared and primed using cosmeceutical products prior to undergoing the treatment.

Am I suitable?

The Cosmelan Method is able to be performed on and by clients of all ages and skin types, and even clients who are prone to post-inflammatory pigmentation changes. If you are concerned with uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, sun spots, age spots, melasma or other forms of pigmentation, Cosmelan is an effective option for you.

How many treatments are required?

The Cosmelan Method is a one-off in clinic treatment, followed with Homecare.

Is there any downtime?

Yes, there is downtime with the Cosmelan method. Depending on your work schedule we do often suggest having some time off and not planning any social events in the few weeks after the initial treatment. You can experience a tight like feeling on the skin, dryness and possible redness, all of which are completely expected responses to the Cosmelan method.

Essentials before having Cosmelan:

  • Cosmeceutical skin care preparation
  • Strictly no tanning or excessive sun exposure
  • Avoid waxing and irritants on the skin
  • Notify clinic of any medical changes

Things to avoid after Cosmelan:

  • Sun exposure
  • Cosmetic tattooing
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Chlorinated water/ saunas
  • Harsh skin products (post care products are included in your cosmelan treatment)
