Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage-based technique used to decongest the lymphatic system and encourage general circulation.
It is used to assist with recovery from certain procedures, swelling of the joints, chronic oedema and to aid in cleansing unnecessary toxins from the body. As it is a stimulating treatment also, it can help to aid with digestion.
As the treatments are customised the time does vary, however most sessions range between 30-60 minutes. Depending on the case and degree of swelling, MLD may be provided up to 3-4 times a week.
There is no downtime with MLD, you may experience some warmth and slight pink tone to the skin but nothing more than that. More often than not clients find it to be quite relaxing.
