Venous lakes, also known as Phlebectases, are soft and benign papules that appear on sun-exposed skin such as the lips, face, and ears. These are caused by a vascular dilation, giving them their dark blue or violet colour.
The vascular dilation (a capillary aneurysm) was first described in 1956 and is important to address using venous lake laser treatment methods due to its similarity to skin cancers, including melanoma and basal cell carcinoma.
Nd:YAG
The technology we use for our venous lake treatments is Nd:YAG, which is sourced from Cutera –pioneers in the field of laser technology for medical and cosmetic applications. The laser energy targets the red pigment or haemoglobin in the vascular malformation.
The in-office venous lake laser treatment is non-surgical and non-invasive, requiring little preparation or downtime. Most patients choose to have annual treatments spread over six sessions.
You can trust the professionals at Skiin to provide efficient and certified venous lake treatments in Melbourne. Our team consists of highly-trained nurses, doctors, aesthetic physicians and cosmetic clinicians who are each dedicated to providing the highest level of care and advice.
